Trevor Cooke, an independent musician from Morgantown, W.Va., announced his move to Columbus in a video posted on his Instagram this past week.

“I think Columbus is going to be great for me,” Cooke said. “I can’t wait to get out there and become a part of this huge community of local musicians.”

The announcement comes just over a year after the release of his newest album, Love Language. The album shares a new take on a classic idea: love expressed through music.

Cooke said the album describes a host of different types of affection with each song focusing on one expression of love.

“The English language only has one word for love,” Cooke said. “But the Greek language has so many different words for different kinds of love… for your friends, for your family, for an admiration of someone who’s teaching you… so each song on the record is a different kind of love.”

Vincent Baratta, of WDTV, said the album “Love Language” is “familiar yet fresh.”

Brendan Gallagher, of Born & Bred Music, said the production on the single “Missed Connections” is “well done” and Cooke “presents a well-crafted hook that will be in your head for a longtime.”

Cooke said he is confident the move Columbus will allow him to continue making music to make people feel less alone.
